While fans have much expectations from the upcoming NBA 2K18 entry, the one thing that even keeps the players starring in the game on the edge of their seats are the ratings the publishers allow them for each year’s installment. Now that the NBA 2K18 Player Ratings have started gradually seeping in, reactions from fans as well as the biggest names in the game have been varied.
We will get to that in a moment, but first we will take a look at the ratings that the likes of cover star Kyrie Irving and Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns have received for this year. Needless to say, a couple of surprises are in order.
All Announced NBA 2K18 Player Ratings
As we have stated above, these are some unexpected ratings. NBA 2K18 Cover Star and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving comes in at a close second after KAT and Paul George, who are tied for the lead position at the moment. However, expect more revelations once 2K rolls out further information on that front. Find a list of all the player ratings for NBA 2K18 unveiled so far below.
- Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves)- 91
- Paul George (Oklahoma City Thunder)- 91
- Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavalier)- 90
- Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics)- 89
- Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)- 89
- DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors)- 89
- Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)- 86

We are yet to see more of the ratings, and we hope to see some of our predictions come true before September. Let us move on.
NBA 2K18 Player Ratings: Our Reactions
Some players have not been happy with the ratings that they have been afforded for the upcoming entry. For one thing, it is surprising that the new game has ranked its cover star at a (measly) 90 points, and Irving himself has been somewhat astonished by the revelation. However, he took it in his stride and said that he will use this as inspiration and come back a lot stronger for next year. Some others, however, have been more obvious in stating their disappointment.
Joel Imbiid, the Philadelphia 76ers center, had expected to land at least a 95 like Kyrie Irving. But when he was told of the 86 he was awarded, he found it hard to contain his surprise. However, he pointed out that he would definitely bump it up to 95 as the season continues.
Not everyone was so disgruntled about their ratings- both Paul George and Karl-Anthony Towns (they’re both ranked the highest at the moment) were appreciative of their ratings they received, although the former’s expectations were definitely higher.
